The case for being slow

I shot twelve frames last month. Not twelve rolls — twelve frames. On purpose.

When every photo costs something — a frame of film, a few minutes in the dark — you stop taking pictures of things that don’t matter. You wait. You look longer. You let the moment earn the shutter.

Digital taught us that more is free. But attention isn’t free, and attention is the whole job.
